Mt. Gede-Pangrango National Park

Hike through the tropical rainforests of Mt. Gede-Pangrango National Park adjacent to historical Cibodas Botanical Garden. Lying between Cianjur and Sukabumi regencies of West Java Province, the Park is rich with flora and fauna and is covered by sub-montane, montane and sub-alpine forest. Accessible from Jakarta via Bogor, the main gate at Cibodas is only a 2-hour drive. The active Mt. Gede volcano (2,958 m) and triangular shaped Mt. Pangrango (3,011 m) are favored weekend trekking destinations for many Jakartans. Waterfalls, hot springs, dense jungle, fresh air, cool weather, and friendly local communities will be glad to welcome your visit.
Day 1: Arrival Jakarta – Cibodas (optional paragliding)
Morning arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. You will be met by our representative and transferred to Cibodas Botanical Garden, 2 hours via toll road. Lunch en route and stop at Puncak tea plantation as the starting point for paragliding. Take a tandem paragliding flight with a licensed tandem pilot to see the panoramic views of Puncak mountain resort from above (OPTIONAL). Afterward, proceed to Mt. Gede-Pangrango National Park. Arrive at Cibodas Botanical Garden (the main gate of the National Park), and check in for overnight accommodation at the Forestry Lodge or a nearby Cibodas guesthouse. Dinner will be served at the lodge or guesthouse.
Day 2: Cibodas – Kandang Badak campsite
Breakfast at the lodge or guesthouse. 8 a.m. start walking to the Mt. Gede-Pangrango National Park main gate and report to the ranger’s office. Begin the assent by trekking (4 hours) through dense jungle, passing Telaga Biru natural lake and on a wooden plank path at Rawa Gayonggong swamp. Rewards include views of Mt. Pangrango with its valley and natural hot spring. Stop at the hot spring for a packed lunch. Then continue climbing to Kandang Badak campground (2 hours) where we will set up our tents for overnight. Dinner will be served at the campsite.
Day 3: Kandang Badak – Summit – Cibodas – Jakarta
2.30 am wake up call and preparation for climbing up to the peak of Mt. Gede volcano. Hot tea or coffee will be provided during the climb. Reach the peak in time for sunrise and enjoy scenic Mt. Gede’s active crater and the Alun-alun Suryakencana valley covered with edelweiss flowers. Return to Kandang Badak campground where we will have breakfast. Afterward, climb down to Cibodas Botanical Garden. Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer back to the Jakarta airport for your onward destination or drop off at your hotel.
|1.||No special climbing skill is required, yet participants should be physically and mentally fit for climbing several hours each day and high altitude with cold weather. Preparations such as jogging for 30 minutes per day prior to arrival are sufficient.|
|2.||Please consult your doctor if you have a history of suffering from the following ailments: heart disease, hypertension, chronic asthma, peptic ulcer, severe anemia, diabetes, epileptic fits, arthritis, palpitations, hepatitis, muscular cramps, obesity and any other sickness that may be triggered by severe cold, exertion and high altitude.|
|3.||Base Camp will not be held liable or responsible for failure to execute climbing arrangements specified herein due directly or indirectly to acts of nature (force majeure), strikes, riots, war or any other condition beyond its control. Base Camp will take NO responsibility for any injury or death caused by natural disasters or any other conditions beyond our control.|
|4.||Base Camp has the right to cancel or postpone climbing because of bad weather or any natural disaster such as landslide, flood, earthquake, etc.|
|5.||Reservations must include passport number and complete name as it appears on passport at least 14 working days before arrival.|
